How do I know if I'm eligible for the HCP?
Eligibility for a Home Care Package is determined through a comprehensive assessment conducted by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). This assessment evaluates your care needs and your ability to manage day-to-day life. Factors considered include physical, medical, psychological, and social needs. What is the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)?
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is an entry-level care service meant to support older people who need some assistance to remain living independently at home. It offers a range of services such as help with household tasks, personal care, meal services, transport, and social support, tailored to help manage with daily tasks but not extensive enough for complex care needs.
How do I know if I'm eligible for the CHSP?
Eligibility for the CHSP is is generally for those aged 65 and over (or 50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) who need minor assistance with daily tasks. Eligibility is determined through a simpler assessment by a Regional Assessment Service (RAS).
