My Aged Care Calculator.
Understanding your aged care costs with confidence.
Planning and allocating funds for aged care services can feel overwhelming — especially when you’re trying to support a loved one to stay safe, independent, and connected at home.
The good news is that government assistance is available to help ease financial pressure, and there are several calculator tools that can give you an estimate of what you may be asked to contribute.
Aged care in Australia is designed to be accessible for everyone. Depending on your needs, income and assets, the Australian Government may subsidise some, or all, of your fees.
Should I Apply?
It’s completely normal to wonder whether you’re eligible for government‑subsidised aged care support. Many people ask this when they first begin exploring their options.
Eligibility is based on your age, needs, and personal circumstances. To determine the right level of support for you, My Aged Care will arrange an aged care assessment. This assessment helps identify what services you may benefit from and whether you qualify for government funding.
This will take you 1-2 minutes to complete.
Support At Home: Fee Estimator.
This tool will help you calculate how much you will need to contribute to your care. You can also use it to plan your Support at Home budget.
Key details about the calculator:
- Where to find: The official tool is located on the My Aged Care website
- What it estimates: It helps you understand your potential contribution rate to the cost of services.
- What you will need: To get an estimate you will need your pension status, your annual income, and annual pension income and the total value of your assets, excluding your home.
- Limitations: The tool is only a guide. A formal income and assets assessment via Services Australia is required to determine exact funding.
