How Level 2 Fees & Funding Works

Understanding the fees and funding for Level 2 Home Care Packages is essential to ensure you or a loved one can receive the necessary support to live independently at home.

The government subsidy for Level 2 Home Care Packages is a financial contribution provided by the Australian Government through My Aged Care

This subsidy is designed to help cover the cost of care services for individuals who require moderate assistance with daily activities. The current subsidy amounts are as follows:

  • Daily Government Contribution: $51.02
  • Fortnightly Government Contribution: $714.28
  • Yearly Government Contribution: $18,571.28

When you or a loved one is assessed and approved for a Home Care Package, the government allocates this specific subsidy amount to a care package service provider like Cura Aged Care, who then coordinates and delivers the necessary services.

The subsidy alleviates the financial burden on families, ensuring that essential care remains accessible and affordable.

The basic daily fee is a standard contribution required from all individuals receiving a Home Care Package.

For a Level 2 package, this fee is $12.08 per day according to the latest guidelines (as of March 20, 2024), and it adjusts in March and September each year in line with the age pension.

This fee contributes to the overall cost of care and services provided, supplementing the government subsidy to ensure comprehensive support for the recipient’s needs.

The income-tested care fee is an additional fee that some individuals may need to pay based on their income.

This fee is determined through an income assessment conducted by Services Australia, which ensures that those with higher incomes contribute more towards their care.

The fee amount varies and is capped annually and over a lifetime to maintain affordability.

For Level 2 packages, this fee is relatively moderate compared to higher levels of care.

To estimate how much you or a loved one might need to contribute, you can use this home care package calculator to learn more.

By understanding these fees and funding mechanisms, you can make informed decisions about the care and support needed to maintain independence at home.

There are different levels of packages available to address varying care requirements. To learn more about these packages, contact our team.

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is designed to help senior Australians access entry-level support services at a subsidised cost, enabling them to live independently and safely in their own homes. These services can range from community respite to in home services. It’s important to note that CHSP services are often provided before being assigned a Home Care Package.

We highly recommend Cura Aged Care as a Home Care Provider. We had a very unfortunate time with our first provider and after careful consideration we joined Cura and have had a wonderful relationship with them for the past 2 years. The greatest bliss for us has been the fact that we have one continuous carer, Robin, who is trustworthy and so caring of Dot.
